Qualcomm recently introduced Snapdragon 845 which mainly focus eXtended reality to improvise multimedia experiences and Artificial Intelligence with the lightning-fast connectivity. Snapdragon 845 is compiled with the secure processing unit which works as a vault-like security for mobile devices.
Mainly focusing on the connection between the physical world and virtual world, Snapdragon 845 is powered with the Qualcomm Spectra 280 image signal processor (ISP) and Qualcomm Adreno 630 visual processing subsystem. Snapdragon 845 will be able to capture 64x more high-dynamic range color information and Ultra HD Premium displays which is a massive boost to the color information. Color information includes 10-bit color depth for over one billion shades of colors to display the wide Recording of 4k videos and let you view with the billion shades of colors. Snapdragon is the world first chip that allows the mobile platform to enable room-scale 6 degrees of freedom with the feature of simultaneous localization and mappings. The chip is powered by " Adreno foveation" that reduces the power consumption and improves quality to boost XR experience.
The chip supports for neural network frameworks and it introduced Open Neural Network Exchange(ONNX) making easy for developers working on the frameworks they prefer. The new architecture is built to render the video capture with 20 percent less power reduction and Graphics performance and power efficiencies will able to improve as 30 percent because of the Adreno 630 compared to the previous generation.
Snapdragon powers the latest Snapdragon X20 modem that supports 18 peak download speeds of 1.2 Gbps up to 5x carrier aggregation, Licensed Assisted Access(LAA), Dual SIM-Dual VoLTE as well as 4X4 MIMO on up to 3 aggregated carriers. With the new secure processing unit, the User and app data protection and multi-support for the bio-metrics. The CPU is powered by the 2MB Shared L3 cache and increases efficiency up to 1.8GHz. The performance is increased 25 times faster compared to the previous generation processors. The Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform is currently sampling to customers and is expected to begin shipping in commercial devices in early 2018.
